Re: It took me years to figure out (Reply to this comment)

You'll be safe to run away from these restaurants almost anywhere ouside Louisiana, in fact ... unless you can confirm that someone from Louisiana is in the kitchen, doing it properly! (And still that's no guarantee, as in the case of the Cajun Bistro).
Oddly enough, though, I dined at a wonderful Creole/Cajun restaurant in Dublin, Ireland, run by an Irish couple who fell in love with Louisiana, and went there to learn how to cook. So who knows ...

It took me years to figure out (Reply to this comment)

...that if I see any restaurant with the words "Cajun," "Mardi Gras," or "New Orleans" in it that I should run, quickly(especially in Germany).

Cajun Food (Reply to this comment)
by Brundledan
This Louisiana native feels your pain - Since I moved away from there, I've come to believe that you simply CANNOT get real Cajun food outside of Louisiana... which reminds me of a story.
One day, a local Houston radio station had people calling in to tell them what they'd be doing over the Labor Day weekend. One young woman called in and chirpily offered that she and a few friends would be having gumbo. "Ah!" said the DJ. "Did you make a roux?" Puzzled, the caller replied, "A what?"
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

If you post one more wonderful review of a Cajun food restauarant tonight, I'm going to have to get in my car and drive all the way home to New Orleans (6 hours) because alas, there is NO decent Cajun 'round these parts...
So, stop it!
